There is a narrative that present, loving, black men are rare and absent from the norm. That is simply not true. I don’t know who is pushing this narrative or why, but I love that my social media timelines do not entertain this ridiculous notion. Thank you to the husbands, fathers, and partners who share themselves. Whether they are putting a smile on my face with their families, expanding my mind with the male perspective, or simply just being their authentic selves, I love it here. More than anything, it brings me immense joy to witness the way these men love and build with the women in their lives. This is a list of some of the beautiful black men I follow.
Devale Ellis
I first started following Devale when his second son Kairo was still a baby. I was hooked after his frantic video about trying to get his two sons ready without his wife Khadeen. It has been a privilege and joy to see two more children get added to the Ellis clan and an honor to see them grow up. They are he first set of children the actually made me feel like an internet auntie. These days Devale and his family are a long ways from their Brooklyn apartment but never short on sharing gems that stay with us followers long after we click out of Instagram, Youtube, or their podcast.
Kier Gaines
Protect Kier Gaines at all cost. He just exudes Black Boy Joy in the grownest way possible. He is a therapist by profession and many of our favorite thought provokers. He exudes authenticity whether he’s challenging us, setting affirmations, loving his wife and children, or even giving us ads. This girl dad also puts himself out there on his journey to self care and always trying to be better. There is just something special about him that makes you want to encourage the males in your life to be friends with him.
D’Anthony
Out of all of the men on my list, D’Anthony is my most recent follow. I could not resist his adorable daughter running off and son innocently checking him. His energy with his children is infectious. This dad vlog is both heartwarming, hilarious, and relatable.
Anthony Awojoodu
Tony and his family are simply the manifestation of black excellence. When African parents talk to their children about growing up and doing well, they are talking about Tony and his wife. Their tribe and achievements give that luxurious soft life vibe. It has been inspiring to see them work hard and play hard.
Denis Asamoah
Affectionally called Uncle Denis on the internets, our favorite Auntie Jackie’s fiancé is just a lovely example of what it to stand next to a giant of a woman. Especially, a black woman. He is an intelligent force on his own but makes no moves to compete with Jackie’s light. I think the ease at which he compliments her is what makes her fans find him easily lovable.
