When I was dreaming up wedding favors, I knew I wanted something that felt luxurious, nourishing, and intentional — something that would linger long after the celebration stopped. I really started working with shea butter after I became a mom. I was familiar with the universal ingredient in many of my hair and body care. However, when my mother in law gifted me luscuios ‘ori’ aka shea butter sourced from Nigeria I knew I would find a way to use it.
There came a time when I wanted to transition my baby to natural products for her skin. So I made this body butter. It has been a hit with family and friends of all ages.

It’s a deeply moisturizing balm made from rich natural butters and oils — thicker than lotion, but melts into skin beautifully. You’ll especially love it if your skin is dry, textured, or easily irritated.
🌿 Is this safe for sensitive skin?
Yes — especially the unscented version. All ingredients are natural and commonly used in traditional skincare across the African diaspora.

👶 What age group is this good for?
This recipe was inspired by my own journey to find something gentle and natural for my babies’ skin.
It’s perfect for newborns, toddlers, and older kids (especially the unscented version) — as well as adults who want a soft, nourishing routine without fillers or synthetics.
✨ Can I use this on my face?
You can, but it’s rich — so if you’re acne-prone, it’s best used as a nighttime balm or on areas like your neck, chest, or hands.
💇🏽♀️ Can I use it on my hair?
Yes! This butter works beautifully as a hair sealant — especially on natural, curly, coily, or dry hair textures.
Just warm a small amount in your hands and smooth it onto damp hair, ends, or scalp to lock in moisture.
(Pro tip: It’s also amazing for beards!)
🧊 Does it melt?
Yes — it’s made from pure oils and butters, so if it gets too warm (like in a hot car), it may soften or melt. Just pop it in the fridge to re-solidify. It’s still just as powerful!
📆 How long does it last?
Unopened, it stays fresh for 6–12 months if kept cool and dry. Once opened, use within 7 months for best texture and scent. (Can be used after 7 months, texture and scent may not be as potent. However, it is not harmful to skin and can still be nourishing. Reach out if you are not sure.)
