1. Colored Raine
I originally fell in love with this company because of their fun matte liquid lipsticks that come in an array of colors and are black girl friendly. While I was a college student on a budget Coloured Raine allowed me to fuel my beauty habit. Lately, their Queen of Hearts palette is part of my everyday makeup routine. Whether I am serving a soft beat or sultry intensity, this palette gets the job done.

3. Lip Bar
The Lip Bar is an indie brand that came on to my radar when a friend of mine picked some unique colors at a pop up shop at Howard University. I remember their lipstick packaging being too cute and easily a recognizable signature. I am a bit of a formula snob, especially when it comes to lip products. Lip Bar is also a vegan brand, which thoroughly piqued my interest. When I indulged in their Whiskey Sour lipstick, I was hooked. Did I mention they made it to Target shelves? I live for business growth!
4. Fenty Beauty
Assuming you have not been under a rock, it is hard to forget how the debut of Fenty Beauty shook the table of the beauty industry. During it inaugural launch, this line boasted 40 shades of foundation. The range of shades and undertones was a welcome breath of fresh air. As a fan of the foundation I could go on. However, I don’t want to miss the opportunity to compliment the pigmentation of the highlighters, Trophy Wife being my favorite. The Gloss Bomb initially had me skeptical with its size and price, but, it is the truth, easily a holy grail beauty product. It seems like every 3 months they release a collection that makes you want to throw your wallet at them.
5. Pat McGrath
They don’t call Pat McGrath Muva for no reason. Her products drip luxury, her formulas are A1, and honestly I am so glad to indulge in high end beauty by a black woman. A couple of birthdays ago, I purchased one of her Matte Trance Lipsticks in the color Antidote. As a formula snob, I salivated at the pigmentation after one swipe. It continued to impress me at the end of the day and I saw it’s staying power. From there I had to indulge in the eyeshadows, which did not disaapoint. During any special occasion or a really good sale, I find it hard to resist adding more Pat McGrath to my collection.
6. Juvia’s Place
Juvia’s Place was a huge social media craze soon after it’s launching. From its signature packaging featuring versions of Nefertiti to its combination of bold and rich colors, the palettes that Juvia’s Place offered were swatch heaven. Its popularity grew from the pigmentation of the colors alone, impressive on various skin tones. To get such a product for quite affordable price points continuously has made this line irresistible. They have recently launched foundations that I am eager to try!
7. Beauty Bakerie
If there was a packaging and concept award in this industry, Beauty Bakerie would deserve recognition. Initially, I learned of them through videos where people tried washing the Lip Whip off to no avail, even when confronted with soap and water. These claims always seemed like simple video tricks to me until some of my favorite Youtubers vouched for them. After finally, making my own purchase, I was stunned that the liquid lipsticks actually do not move, men the ones with glitter in them. In fact, its quite a bit of work to get them off. Which I don’t mind after a whole day of not having to touch up. The bakery theme of their line is consistent from the name of the products down to the whimsical packaging. It is so hard to throw away when it arrives in the mail.
